Project Kangaroo (the joint venture between BBC, ITV and Channel 4 for a shared online service) is blocked by the Competition Commission. Later in the year, Arquiva purchase the intellectual property rights along with the hardware and software technology from Project Kangaroo and name the service SeeSaw.

New BARB 2010 panel at full reporting strength enabling positive verification of the construction of the 2010 systems and routines.

BARB releases headline parallel run data.
ITV takes full control of GMTV after purchasing the remaining 25% from Disney.
December
Channel 4 and Talk Talk join Project Canvas (the proposed Freeview/Freesat service with broadband capability) alongside the founders BBC, ITV, BT and five, which joined in the summer.
During 2009 Border, Granada and the West County regions had their analogue television signal switched over to digital and Wales commenced the change in August.
