Freesat launches on the digital satellite platform, a service jointly owned by BBC and ITV, carrying free- to- air channels.

Freeview starts testing HD transmission in SE England.

Ofcom announce that licences for the 2 HD channels on Freeview have been awarded to ITV and Channel 4.

Selkirk and 11 relay transmitters in the Scottish Borders become the next area to have their analogue television signal switched over to digital.

Barb commences reporting of on-demand content (VOD) via digital cable for content viewed within 7 days of the original broadcast.
